Originally, these cups had a
"Originally, these cups had a weighed about 6 oz, however the handles were fragile and we lost a few due to cracks at the handle base. Recently, we replaced those with three new sets and, presumably (?), their manufacture had been modified. The new sets have a sharper and improved relief, but their weight has increased by about a third, perhaps to deal with the type of breakage mentioned. In any case, eight oz. is pretty different from 6 oz. , and in fact quite irritating in a set of about a nonuniform dozen. Grrrr."

Buyer Be Aware! Poor match to Pre-2009 Pattern
"Like another buyer, I sought to replace pieces from my existing set. The pieces arrived well packaged and quickly, but upon opening it was evident they were not the same as my existing pieces. Pre-2009 (made in Malaysia) pieces are brighter white, thinner and with greater detail apparent in the border design. These are not an acceptable match even for replacement. If you seek a perfect match to earlier made Mikasa Italian Countryside, look on Ebay and make sure the bottom of the item is marked "Made in Malaysia"."
