NOT Dishwasher Safe
"These are lovely dishes for a number of reasons however they are not dishwasher safe. The finish starts to wear off, losing its smooth texture, discolors, gets stained and makes a horrendous nails-on-chalkboard type screech when anything (utensils, food, fingers) are run across the surface. This happened to TWO sets, one from Costco and then a replacement set shipped out by Mikasa to (hopefully) address the issues with the first set--both sets began degrading within 1-2 months of use. We returned our set to Costco so are out only time and frustration. Mikasa was helpful in that they stood by the product and sent a replacement however there weren't any answers given on why this was happening on a "dishwasher safe" product except to avoid acids and rinse aid. There are acids in plenty of foods we eat (lemon, tomato, vinegar) so that is concerning but we did cut out the Rinse-Aid. We use Ecover unscented dishwashing powder and only 1/3-1/2 the dishwasher reservoir volume for reference. We really hoped this was our lifetime set and also hate that we contributed two sets to the landfill with no resolution. This product shouldn't be labeled as dishwasher safe."

Everything we hoped for
"We’ve had the plates for two weeks and love them. They’re so light weight and have been durable. The simple look and feel is incredible. I heard it can be rough on the bottom but things were smooth on our plates and bowls. I was also hesitant on the purchase because I heard that color and sound of fork on plate can change over time, so I’ll have to come back if that’s the case, but so far this has been everything and more for what I wanted for our dinner set. We purchased 2 sets of 4. Getting it through Mikasa is great too because of their guarantee with damage to replace with equal or great value."

I bought 2 dinner sets
"I bought 2 dinner sets for my sons new apartment. One plate was cracked but it was quickly replaced. I will purchase from Mikasa again."

Modern Look but Breakable
"I love the modern and straightforward design, however, their quality or they’re thin that some of them were delivered broken. The packaging wasn’t sufficient to withstand the careless delivery person."

Terrible quality
"Really poor quality. We’ve had this set for 2 years and every single piece has cracked except 2 large bowls and 2 small. All cups cracked while pouring hot water for tea. All bowls cracked while hand waving with warm water. So, clearly doesn’t stand up to normal use. Dont recommend"

Oh Samantha…
"She’s a lovely set that is minimalist and still has a delicate appeal. She holds pride of place on my French 18th century checkerboard veneer topped country dining table. Clean, crisp and delicate with an effortless ease. Love them."

Love the feel and look
"Love the feel and look of these dishes. But in my first shipment I received some badly broken dishes in two of the boxes. Pictures of the breakage were emailed, and I have spoken with a Customer Service Representative. Replacements were ordered but I have not received them."

Nice looking but glossy finish didn't last
"I love the style of these dishes. I've had them for about 2 years and use as my everyday dishes. I also purchased some Lucerne pasta and fruit bowls since they didn't offer these in Samantha when I purchased them. My complaint (for both) is that they have not held up well in the dishwasher; what once was a nice shiny smooth surface has gotten very dull and etched and doesn't give a nice feel when you touch them with your fingers or fork. Kind of like nails on a chalkboard. Quite disappointing. I wouldn't recommend if you don't want to hand wash."

I chose the Samantha dinnerware
"I chose the Samantha dinnerware set to replace our old Mikasa Arabella dinnerware. The Samantha dinnerware is simple but elegant. I love the slightly raised edges of the plates. Shipping was fast and the set arrived in perfect condition. I just ordered another 16 piece set and 8 pasta bowls."
