SUBPAR QUALITY
"I have purchased the Mikasa Italian Countryside pattern of dinnerware and serve ware for years from different retailers, without any issue. I recently bought directly from the Mikasa website some plates and serving pieces. I was so disappointed to open the package and find that none of the new items matched my collection! I contacted the Mikasa customer service by email and included the photos below that show the variances. The new items are noticeably darker in color. The embossed pattern on the new items has a noticeably lower relief that is not as distinctly detailed. Customer service answered that there are manufacturing differences but quality is same. No - I cannot set a table with these new items that are so different. These look like defective castoffs or seconds! So disappointing that this heritage brand has lowered its standards!"

Crazing after light use
"I love this dish but as others said, it developed cracks in the glaze (crazing) after only a few months of light use. It's attractive and lightweight but not durable at all. The crazing renders it not safe for food but I discovered that it's the perfect size and height to re-purpose as a holder for a pie (in an aluminum pie pan.). Pretty expensive pie storage dish but otherwise it looks nice on the outside."

Not the Italian countryside that
"Not the Italian countryside that once was….has a metallic sound. Cracks in glaze and looks like it’s been made from a cheap mold not the craftsmanship we once could expect"

"I do not recommend this dish for baking. It developed cracks in the glazing just after once use. I returned it thinking it was a defect and the same thing happened with the 2nd dish. With this dish I used it a second time and the glazing cracked completely through. Had to throw it away. So disappointed. Also, Mikasa dishes chip easily."

Mikasa Square Baker
"I love Mikasa Italian Countryside. I have the dishes and several serving dishes and flatware. Good quality products. This dish is great when you don't need a 9 x 13 size."

Mikasa did not warranty their products!
"I received a beautiful blue flowered casserole dish and the glaze CRACKED throughout the bottom dish and Mikasa did not offer a replacement due to being no longer in stock!? Sounds like most of their bakeware ceramics glazes are cracking!!"
