"I bought this 2 months ago from Costco 40 pc. set and I love the design. However, after 2 months of running this in the dishwasher, I noticed that the glazing under the plate is not so great you could feel the roughness and it started having little chips. I would not recommend this product."
"Great value"
"I love the pattern and the simplicity. These are great for anything. White dishes can be dressed up or down, and I’ve always wanted a set. There are some drawbacks with these dishes though. First, I purchased these from Costco. The Costco ones are totally different from the ones purchased through Mikasa so the extra plates and bowls I purchased didn’t match. There was a huge difference. I wanted a set of 10 and thought I could just buy the extra pieces but I was wrong. Also, after having these for about 8 months I’ve noticed that some are starting to get a bit of a rainbow discoloration, a sign of etching which is permanent and irreversible. Not sure who’s to blame here as the etching is apparently caused by many factors, like using too much detergent (my fault), having hard water, and not using a rinse aid. I used the premeasured pods, so had to switch to gel after I found this out that way I can control the amount of detergent. I was already using a rinse aid, but I have to say, I have other dishes that this was never a problem with, and I’d used pods on them for years with no signs of etching. So I’m led to believe it’s due to an inferior quality glaze in my opinion (not my fault). The dishes that held up better were significantly more expensive fine china from another brand, but with the addition of our son a few pieces had been broken and I just decided to go with cheaper everyday dishes so I wasn’t replacing $100 plates when things got broken. It’s a trade off, I’m still using these mikasa ones for now because it doesn’t affect the usability of the plates. It’s more of a cosmetic dislike, but if it gets worse these may just go back to Costco for a full refund."
"I purchased this set at Costco and the finish is so porous that they all stained immediately! I hate them and they even feel weird now to touch them. I use top end dishwasher soap and rinse aid as well. Would not recommend!!"
"The dishes did not match in size and thickness."
"I love this China for everyday use. It doesn’t chip like stoneware can. It’s a beautiful pattern and washes well in the dishwasher."
"One of the dinner plates is not shaped like the others. It almost has a bowl like shape rather than being flat."
"Please save your money on the Mikasa Ciara set. While these are beautiful, the finish started to go within two months of use. They are now completely discolored and some look to have a rainbow colored finish on them. I’m terribly disappointed. I do Not feel that these dishes are actually dishwasher safe."
"After less than a year, these dishes have a brown and rainbow film on them. Customer service no help."
