Customer Service Woes
"Shortly following my purchase of this fun and festive-looking, dishwasher and microwave-safe dinnerware set for my new place, I ran into a very disappointing circumstance. After using the set for less than a month, my mom was visiting and went to warm something up in the microwave, on one of the luncheon sized-plates. To her alarm, she heard a popping noise in the microwave and found the dish had cracked, and a shard had popped out of it, as well. Upon contacting customer service, they were not, ultimately, helpful. They indicated, after receiving my photos of the damaged plate, that they do not stock replacements and could not help to replace the broken dish. I pressed the issue, letting them know I found it hard to believe that a company of their stature could not help me...surely I could not be the first person to experience damage to a single item in a set. And, perhaps most upsetting, damage that was no fault of my own, as it occurred in the microwave, on a dinnerware set clearly advertised as microwave safe! Sounds like a craftsmanship/manufacturing issue to me! Ultimately, after pushing on them with my dissatisfaction, Mikasa offered me a "one time courtesy" of 4 luncheon plates from a completely different (bone China, not porcelain; off white, not bright white) set. In the end, those alternate luncheon plates did arrive, but I had to purchase my own replacement for the original broken plate (radial patterned Cheers plate; lunch size), if I wanted my Cheers dinnerware set to be complete. The individual replacement plate cost me $12, and another $12 to ship, from a replacement service I had to find on my own. This woeful (lack of) customer service experience will not find me purchasing Mikasa products in the future."

Pretty…..doesn’t last
"Bought 12 place setting (8+4) here last year. Dishes are used only in Florida in our part time residence and even then, not daily. Yet they literally look like they are 20 years old. Scratches, dulling chips, I even tried washing them by hand to preserve without success. Not a good choice at all, so disappointed in the quality and will be looking at new sta, staying away from Mikasa."

Love them, but...
"Love, love. love these dishes. Love the whimsical but subtle patterns. Nice weight and feel to them. Dishwasher and microwave friendly. Always make me smile when I set the table-and I use them everyday! But after about 2 years many pieces are chipped- most bowls, half the salad plates and 1 or 2 dishes. Need to decide if I should buy again or go with a different set."

Beautiful set
"Absolutely beautiful set. Like the fact that plates are deep. Have many Mikasa products and Mikasa never disappoints! Customer service is absolutely superb!"

Dingy. Scratches VERY easily.
"We didn't own this set more than a week before we discovered how easily marred it would get. Bought it through Costco and have regretted it ever since. It's the plates. But the bowls or cups."

Fun, but doesn’t last
"I purchased this set one year ago as our daily dishes. The patterns are so fun and subtle in white. But only a year later, nearly every plate has chipped and all are scratched and discolored on the raised matte patterns. Bowls and mugs have fared better. I am very disappointed that Mikasa made such a poor quality set."

Scratches easily
"If you intend to use this as your everyday dinnerware, don't. The design is absolutely gorgeous and timeless; however, the patterns protrude above the glazed surface, so any regular flatware will scratch the dishes very easily. My family used this dinnerware for less than 3 weeks and several dishes showed scratches already. I was told by Mikasa to use additional cleaning products, which, honestly, is not ideal nor practical for everyday use dishes. We were very disappointed indeed and wanted to return the two sets I had excitedly purchased. Mikasa told me they could not accept them because they were scratched. Ironic, isn't it? I expected better quality and better service from such a well renowned company such as Mikasa."
